Program Coordinator, Ain Shams University (Energy Section), USAID Scholarship Activity (Office of Enrollment, Admissions and Student Service Center), Grant Position
Purpose: The program coordinator will provide all scholarship Ain Shams University (Energy Section) students with information and facilitation on all services available and to address any challenges students may face. The program coordinator will monitor the students’ progress throughout the year (of academic study and summer) to address any academic or personal adjustment issues and recommend interventions as needed under the USAID Scholarship activity extension award. This coordinator will be located at Ain Shams University
Principal Accountabilities:
Compile official academic reports at the end of semester and review academic graduation progress of all students in Ain Shams University
Monitor students’ attendance and participation in leadership and other skills development activities
Coordinate the program activities in their respective universities including finalizing admission, housing, orientation, onboarding, and administering the U.S semester abroad
Issue warning letters in cases of repeated absences or lack of commitment, as per grant rules and after consultation with Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP)
Perform regular monitoring and early interventions along with student support services to address challenges and ensuring high student retention
Refer “at-risk” students to Ain Shams University Academic Facilitator, Chief of Party(COP) and Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for recommendations
Work with Ain Shams University faculty and administrators, at the Centers of Excellence and Career Centers to develop career advising and training/workshop plans
Work closely with Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) to develop an annual activity work plan prior to the start of every academic year to reduce the challenge of not overwhelming scholars with activities
Identify and support students who may struggle with their major to be paired with peer and/or faculty mentors who will assess and/or make recommendations without impacting graduation plans
Meet with students individually at least four times each semester and closely follow their progress within the USAID scholarship program activities
Must be aware of the community culture, project scope and thus more understanding of and responsive to students’ needs
Seek and plan sessions/intervention schemes with the designated Psychological Advisor under AUC’s Center for Student Well-being (CSW)
Take an active role over the course of the project to ensure that students participate in events and extra-curricular activities which include experiential training workshops in addition to movies discussion, and book readings led by public, private sector leaders and quest speakers
Observe, document and share all students’ growth, commitment and ability to adapt and thrive in new settings
Plan and supervise the execution of all events in which the project network of NGOs, private sector organizations and businesses participate
Work collaboratively to maintain open communication channels through regular in-person and virtual meetings to ensure connectivity across all participating universities is strengthened
Perform any other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in education
MA in education is an asset
Experience:
Previous experience in counseling/training/coaching students’ academic, social and psychological well-being and extracurricular progress is a must
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in educational and/or scholarship management programs
Previous experience in foreign-funded/USAID projects is required
Skills:
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic
Good attention to details with excellent follow up skills
Demonstrated time management and multi-tasking skills
Ability to work independently and take the initiative
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with project constituents
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Very good computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
